depends how you define torture. as a coming of age ritual, boys of the Nuer tribe in africa receive 6 parallel lines carved into their foreheads. i'm sure they don't see it as torture at all, but it looked incredibly painful. thats the only thing that immediately comes to mind....

I think they are starting to go through the motions without body harm now days.
