Is roller blading similar to ice skating?

would roller blading be less difficult then ice skating(by far)?

Yes rollerblading is almost the same. um mm probrally it would be more difficult than figure skating. Cause figure skating you have to spin, jump and all sorts of things.

I think they are = because roller blading you have to have balence and skating you have to have  baclence!

it just depends i can do both but my friend who figure skates with me cant roller blade to save her life

They are more similar to each other than say ice skating and roller skating, but ice skates moving on a(n almost) frictionless surface are far more sensitive than wheels on concrete. So ice skating is more precise and delicate and more difficult.

Some figure skaters roller blade off-ice because the added friction forces them to have to power through the strokes more which builds up muscles.

I personally think they're similar, but stops are different.  On ice skates, you have edges and rollerblading depends on your momentum to hold you on a curve.  So they're similar, but not the same.  If you can rollerblade, don't count out ice skating and vice versa.  For either sport, there would be some adjustment.

I think roller blading is similiar to how hockey skaters skate, but not so much as with how figure skaters move.

Figure skaters are trained not to use their toes picks unless jumping but you don't realize how much you depend on them until you put on a pair of roller blades and try to turn front to back or vice versa.

Most figure skating involves cross cuts, which is a little more challenging on roller blades. Whereas most hockey skating relies on pushing outward which is the basis of roller skating.

I can Rollerblade very well, but cannot ice skate to save my life. For me, they are completely different. Don't know why, but I find rollerblading very simple and easy.
