Is romaine lettuce and purple cabbage okay for hamsters to eat?

  1. A small bit of romaine is fine.  You might want to check on the purple cabbage.  I know a bit of green is ok.  The purple has an enzyme that causes problems with rats and guinea pigs, so I would guess it probably would effect gerbils and/or hamsters as well.


  2. Yeah, but not too often. Give them it only as a treat every other day or so.. and a very small piece. Never give them iceberg lettuce or any watery vegetable.

  3. Oh yeah, they love the greens. They also LOVE broccoli. :)
