  1. he shouldn't unless his opponent is as old as he is.

  2. He said he was after losing to Matt Hughes but who would he fight?? He does not like the rules of the UFC or the time limits so I highly doubt he will ever fight for them again unless he is paid a high amount of money.

  3. IDK, but I'd love to see it. I wonder how he'd do now that everyone knows BJJ.

  4. he won today and last night too!

  5. Expanding on what CM77 said;

    Not likely to happen, the reason being is that the current generation of the Gracie family did not train in Jiu Jitsu in a time where it was sorely tested by brutal Vale Tudo matches.  That is, the Vale Tudo Royce competed in, was not the Vale Tudo of his father Helio.  If you had a fountain of youth, and made Helio 25 years old again, he would probably dominate the great majority of MMA fighters out there, using only submissions.  The reason that is is because Helio went up against guys who would bite, claw, and attempt eye gouging because in his day in Brazil it was allowed, in other words it was TRUE Vale Tudo (everything goes).

    Also, BJJ is way too ineficient for its own good compared to Judo; between that and Gracie getting old for that sort of thing, and the fact that he has not faced the same kind of pressure as his father, all mean that he is just not at that level.  I have seen Helio do Jiu Jitsu; the speed with which he submitted opponents was frightening to watch.  Whereas modern Gracie men will just let a fight drag, and drag, and drag, Helio would end a fight in the space of a minute sometimes.  I suppose when the guy you're fighting is 6'4, and the rules say he can gouge out your eyes, bite and claw you, you better be quick, you know, motivation issues.

    The straight answer is not likely; the competition is too well trained anymore, everyone is familiar with BJJ's weaknesses as no doubt Gracie's early fights in the UFC are the very tapes most amateur MMA fighters analyze first.  What I am trying to say is, Gracie's fame, is the reason he will have a hard time winning; too many fighters have analyzed his weaknesses.  Think about it; I don't think its Gracie's Jiu Jitsu that's weak, its just that he has not done anything to correct his mistakes, any flaws in his strategy.

    How would you like to fight someone, who has collected 50 tapes of your fights?  Think about it; it puts Gracie at a disadvantage because most fighters out there don't have 50 to 60 video tapes of footage that Gracie can analyze.  Every single weakness Gracie has, every weakness imaginable, has been exposed for the whole entire world to see, so his technique may be sharper, more polished, but because he has not changed his tactics, even a nobody like Hughes can humiliate him.  Well, nobody when compared to the people Gracie used to go up against.

  6. Nope. He was completely dominated and humiliated by Matt Hughes. Royce was great in his time, a true trailblazer. The game has changed. Gone are the days where he could lie on his back until the opponent gets tired, and spring a surprise submission. People know what too look for now. You have to game-plan for each individual athlete, you can't rely on just submission. The evolution of MMA, and the rise of superior athletes instead of unschooled, one dimensional brawlers, is why Royce, and other members of the Gracie family, now only fight in matches against opponents who are carefully scouted and selected on the basis of who the best match-up for their style is.
