My daughter plays soccer for the high school in the spring and is football manager in the fall. She runs 5 miles each day during the non soccer season because we live in a small town and there are no soccer clubs. She is just trying to keep in shape. A number of people have encouraged her to run cross country, we are wondering if 5 miles in 40 minutes is a good enough time to compete?

  1. Of course she can compete, she's already in the range, and with some proper XC training, I'm sure she could be very good

  2. yeah, she'll be able to..not sure if that's a good time though..most H.S. XC race are 3.1 miles..if she runs atleast 25 mins..then yeah she'll be able to make a H.S. XC team..(25 mins minimal, it's not that fast for girls)

  3. For a girl yes. Anyway in highschool they run 5k's (about 3 miles). Thats an 8 minute pase still kinda good for three miles. It would be a 24:00 a good time for girls would be 20:00 or less, but shorter distances are usually easier.

  4. Yeah that's a pretty good time, you should get her in it.

I'm sure once she joins her time will only improve.
