  1. Running no. But racing yes... Walking i think only like power walking

  2. Running is most definitely a sport, just watch the olympics.

Also walking is a sport to. Called speed walking, looks weird, but people win medals for it.

  3. actually running a race requires skills in being in shape, form, pacing, etc

if i were to challenge you to a 10 mile running race, and i beat you, then how would that mean i have no skill compared to you, and not anyone can do it, ie fat or out of shape people

  4. Have you ever tried to run for miles at a time? If the answer is no, try it and then you'll know that running is definitely a sport!

  5. everyone can do it thats interesting cause thats not a fact. Not everyone can walk either. Some people are in a health situation and it would not be wise at all to run.

  6. Go run cross country

than come back and tell me that running isn't a sport.

  7. ummm duh its a sport! Sure, almost anyone can run with pathetic form and be out of breath within a minute. But you don't see many people running 4 minute miles and 50 second 400s do you?

And it takes a lot of skill to figure out your pace and how to beat your competition, especially in the longer races. You have to strategically plan out your pace for each lap or leg of the race, and make sure you don't get boxed in or anything.

ANYBODY can play basketball or football. They might just suck.

    Same with running.

  8. if running was easy itd be called YOUR MOM! also not everyone can do it and the people that are able to do it may perfrom @ different levels than the people that are TALENTED!

  9. no, racing is. walking a 5k maybe is a sport.

  10. I would like to see anyone run a set of 6 1200 meters and then 4 200s with a reducing time. I'd like to see anyone run a 400 meter all out and not have butt cramps or get tight in the hamstring. I would like to see anyone run an 800 meter with an even pace, and keep even splits. I would like to see anyone win a race others been training months for. I'd like to see anyone not cry because of the pain at the end of hard workouts.

  11. go run a marathon and then decide if running is a sport or not.

  12. Running is an action.  Since anyone can do it and there's no way to measure success.

Racing, however, is a sport.  And racing can be made up of two or more poeple running.  You must be good at it to succeed.

  13. It all depends on the kind of running.  There's cross country, indoor track, outdoor track - those are all competitive sports.  But if you're just running by yourself to keep fit - no.

  14. There are a few people who cannot run very well. I see them in the park alot.

  15. Go out and run 13.1miles, 26.2. Go out right now, without training. If you can't(and that is most likely the case because otherwise you wouldn't be saying what you are), then what are we talking about here?

Racing also takes strategy. Knowing how far you can push your body to it's maximum. Even running, just running, takes athletic ability. Have you ever seen someone who hasn't run since high school gym class try to run even a mile? It isn't pretty. Tell them how easy it is and that they should be able to run 10 more because it takes no skill.

And actually, yes... there are race walkers. And let me tell you, some of them are SUPER SPEEDY. I challenge you to learn about race walking too. See if you can keep up.

Being in a sport is about training your body to get the maximized desired result. It is about effort, sweat and desire. Runners are not short on any of that.

  16. My *** running isnt a sport! Track? Cross Country? I personally a 3 time state contender say it DOES involve skill, mental and physical skill..something the big sports lack in...football for example. Running at top speed in a friggin 100, 200, 400 meter race is hard, even harder is running for 3 miles straight in hot, cold, hilly, conditions
