  1. Running is good for everything but it will take more than 3 days to make your legs look smaller!


  2. running just one mile is not enough exercise.  Even at a very moderate pace the most time you're currently exercising is 9-10 min 3 times a week.  The CDC (center for disease control) recommedation is

        * A minimum of 30 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity per day (such as brisk walking) most days of the week

          or

        * A minimum of 20 minutes of vigorous-intensity physical activity (such as jogging or running) 3 days a week

    Try to build up to running at least a half an our 3-4 times a week.  Don't worry about distance so much as time, and run at a pace where it's no longer easy for you to talk, but you're not killing yourself.

    And of course running is great for you're legs, there the part of the body doing the most work!  If you don't feel like running 3 or 4 days a week you could aqua jog, ride a stationary or regular bike, elliptical trainer, whatever.  The best exercise is the kind that you'll do and stick to, so whatever you want.
