  1. It is if you're on a treadmill.  Otherwise, your body does more work and burns more calories to actually cover ground than it does to run in place.

  2. Nope, runningoutside challenges your body more with different elevations, wind resistance, different speeds and turning. You use your whole body more running outside than the repetition of a treadmill.

  3. I think you will. Running outside you see more and most likely to will do more miles .

  4. when you are outside-- you produce more sweat because of the heat and that does help you lose weight because trying to work harder in the heat burns more calories. also when you go uphill, it is much more exerting and tougher, causing your body you burn more calories in order to work harder to get uphill. but if you are on flat land, the friction of your body pushing against the ground to move forward causes more calories to burn because it is harder than if you run in place.

inside, running in place-- it is air conditioned, and flat level, but when you run in place you just move your feet up and down basically. of course it is better than nothing, but being outside burns more.

  5. In opinion you burn more calories when you run outside. Take in consideration factors such as: the temperature, if you run outside the landscape varies(you might have to run up a hill), etc. If you run outside you will develop some kind of mental toughness.

I suggest you to buy a jump rope and start jumping rope. Jumping rope is a great cardio workout and it burns a whole lot of calories.

Keep in mind that when burning calories the important thing is the intensity not the amount of time you dedicate to a workout. For example sprinting a couple of yards several times burns more calories than running 2 miles at a comfortable pace. Kickboxing is also great to burn calories, in my opinion is one of the best methods to get in shape.

If you cannot afford any of the things I suggested you, then keep running in place, but add a little bit of variety to your workout: perform jumping jacks, burpees, jump squats, and other callisthenic exercises.

  6. you would burn more calories outside but you would still burn calories running in place

  7. No, it isn't as good as running outside, neither is a treadmill.  Running outdoors is much more challenging because you have the friction of road (or sidewalk), change in terrain and wind.  If it isn't safe to run on the street, find a school with a track to run on.

  8. Outside would burn more calories because of changes in elevation on the surface, but indoor would be good as well.  The difference might not be so great that you want to change your routine.

  9. I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't be.  Makes sense, but I have never thought about that before.
