Is rust (iron oxide) bad for allotment soil?

Hi, my new allotment is bordered entirely by rusting metal doors used as fences. Could anyone tell me, is this likely to be bad for the soil or cause harmful effects to vegetables grown next to them (and then me eating them!)? Many thanks.

  1. no you'll be fine

  2. your veg no problem,

    try growing Rhodedrendrons or azelilas

    these like acidic soil(Rusty) soil...

less acidic they are blue,,,more acidic they are red

you can of course counteract acidity by digging in bags of lime,,,,and get PH tester to make sure your plants have the right growing conditions
