  1. they might run 5 days this week, and then pull up the

new track, and replace it with reg. dirt, and then

after the meet, replace the oval with a new track!!!

  2. I'm not sure what the latest news is as I am all the way over here in GB!  However, I would like to point out that this is not a problem with artificial surfaces per se, but more a fault in the installation at Santa Anita itself.  Plenty of other US tracks have artificial surfaces and have not had problems.

I have to say the sooner you get rid of dirt altogether the better it will be.  Who cares if it slows down the track times, or changes the track bias?  The welfare of horses must be paramount.

Next we need to get you in line with the rest of the world as far as race day medication goes!

  3. The CHRB (California Horse Racing Board) held a state-wide tele-conference, with various tracks & horsemen, to address the issues. The CHRB passed an amendment, which will allow some, or all of Santa Anita's dates to be transferred to Hollywood Park, if conditions continue to cause cancellations. The plan is to try to continue at Santa Anita, however the amendment will allow a change of venue, without complete disruption in racing. Link is to Tb. times article.
