The person we call Santa Claus today is patterned after a real person St. Nicholas. He was the Bishop of Myra known for his generosity to those in need and his love of children. In different countries through the centuries St Nicholas got several name changes and a different mode of transportation and with American marketing a whole new look. Though the Christmas Season has become very commercial, the basic message is the same -giving. So Santa Claus is very real,even if in spirit only.

santa is not real. but there was a man called saint nicholas who gave presents to children, i think it originated from russia. westerners stole the idea and turned him into santa claus who wears a red and white suit ( which was coca colas idea) and decided this was a good idea to make money off people.
