So if you are browsing a website with pictures, and say you click on a picture to enlarge it, then right click, choose save as, and save the pic in a directory, is that considered "downloading"?

  1. I think so.  downloading to me is when you're saving information from a source (ie the internet).

  2. Yes.

A download happens whenever you transfer anything from a server or host computer to your own computer.

Every page you look at on the internet is a download to your computer from where ever it's stored.  Copying a file of any sort (music, images, text) from the internet and saving it to your computer is definitely a download.

  3. yes. according to ISP's it is apart of your download usage. just opening a webpage is downloading as you are downloading information from the internet to your computer. you may not know it, but your computer is saving small files about each web page you open so you can access them quicker next time.

saving an image to your hard drive is the exact same process but its jus a voluntary action

  4. Not all pictures are thumbnails that you click on to enlarge.  But yes, those pictures are files.  if you save any file or image from the internet to your computer, it's considered downloading.
