We are going to be visiting the Toronto Zoo and might stay at a place called the Delta Toronto East...it is located on Kennedy St in scarborough. Is this a safe area? We are from a small town and will be with our young children. With all of the violence now a days I am a little leary to travel? Anyone that knows this area...any advice would be great!

  1. Most of Toronto should be pretty safe. Obviously it depends on what you are doing, and when. There are a few areas of Scarborough where I wouldn't feel totally safe walking alone at night, but if you're in a group you should be just fine. If you want to make sure everything's safe, just make sure that you have enough money for a taxi in case you find yourself lost somewhere that you don't feel comfortable.

Also, the Delta is a pretty nice hotel, I recall. It should have good security. And the zoo itself is very safe - there are lots of staff in case the kids get separated, and there are signs to make sure that everybody knows what's safe and what isn't.

To be honest, the bigger danger to your children, since you're from a small town, actually wouldn't be violence in Toronto. I'd be more leery of traffic and busy roads.

  2. Most of Scarborough really isn't as unsafe as it is sometimes made out to be.  That area is known to be fairly safe as well. Also remember from that hotel you can take the 86 which leaves from Kennedy station(which is close to that hotel) and takes you straight to the Zoo. Just make sure you get on the correct 86

  3. yea, its right by kennedy and 401... it seems like a safe area, I have been past there many times. Theres an amc theater nearby..

It looks like a nice reputable hotel. You should not have to worry

Toronto and Scarborough are pretty safe cities. It's not invaded by crime and guns. That area should be pretty safe.

You can tell an unsafe area by looking at it, most of the time. Just be aware of your surroundings. However, there shouldn't be anything to worry about.
