Schipka Pass runs under the railways viaduct between Gallowgate and London Road. The name came from the notorious Schipka Pass, the site of many a massacre in the Russo-Turkish War of the 1870s. Shipka pass is owned by as man called d**k Barton,who also owns a pool hall on London road, he is well known as an amateur football pundit, who is Jags mad unsurprisingly. some of the signs are hilarious. He always puts questions into the evening times column 'Now You Know" with some obscure footy question.

It looks like there might be something happening there. I believe that Schipka pass has been taken over by a development company and the council has given notice to the traders in the market that the market is going to close.

The fire they had down there a while ago hasn't helped.

There are rumours, unconfirmed, that it is going to be a car park.
