In Washington, alot of schools ==teachers were'nt teaching the students that go to public schools exactly what they needed to learn to get a job and keep it. It got so bad that a special test was formed called a WASL test. All the schools were included, so what students that learn and all grades good, now this WASL test, if the students dont pass this WASL test they dont graduate, yet all through the year in other good teaching schools, none of the students can graduate, because of the states governor rules. I CALL IT UNFAIR TO THE STUDENTS. This is why I asked would'nt it be better to teach school through computers at home, plus it would cut down on the fuel wasted and the safety of the students to be considered.

  1. This doesn't make any sense.  Are you complaining that the schools aren't teaching what students need to know to get a job?  That they have to take the WASL test?  That students at good schools can't pass the WASL test (then what makes them such good schools?)?  That the governor has some unspecified rules?  That fuel gets wasted?  That students are unsafe?  It isn't clear how any of this ties together.

If you are talking about high school and lower, students don't have the self-discipline to learn at home, for the most part.  Frankly, even when you put them in front of a computer in the classroom, they often fail to do the work you want them to do and are surfing the web, gaming, and doing other things from which they don't learn.  You can present all you want to students through computers, but you need to have a mechanism to enforce their participation, and we haven't yet figured out how to do that if they don't get monitored directly.  The number of college students who give up on online classes should give you a hint as to how poorly this would work at the high school level.

  2. In PA, there is such thing as cyber school, where you can attend high school to get your diploma. They also offer online colleges, where you can study to get a degree in many various majors.

About the WASL test, never heard of it, im not in WA, it does seem very unfair, but I do believe there is some kind of alternative, the credit completeion packets, where you pay $110 for the packet, complete it, and you pass.

It is basically paying your way through school.

  3. yes, it is sufficient. and it's better than homeschooling because they get to make friends and stuff. school not only helps kids develop academically, but also socially, which is important if you want to find a job. no one is going to hire someone who is shy and quiet (or stupid), so that's why public education is better than home education.

oh, and another reason why the computer home schooling thing isn't good is because a long time on computers can ruin your eyes, and you can't learn to say stuff from computers.
