  1. Sea salt or rock salt is naturally occuring and depending on where it comes from may have a different mineral contents.  Once you start using it you'll never go back.  Table salt is "made" in a laboratory and is disgusting.

  2. Sea salt is more natural, so of course natural things tend to have a better effect on our bodies. But table salt has something called iodine in it, which we do need a little bit of. So a mix of both, every now and then would probably be the healthiest if you're going to have salt at all. I would say use the sea salt on things like baked potatoes and corn, etc. But use the iodized salt in water that you're going to cook pasta in.

  3. Yes it is, but still make sure it's natural. To check, look in the ingredients, and it should ONLY say sea salt. (or the scientific name which I think contains sodium, not sure)

  4. Salt is salt no matter where it comes from.

  5. Salt is salt is salt. It is all chemically Sodium Chloride,  NaCl. What is different is where it comes from and what else is IN with the salt. Rock salt, dug out of the ground, has dirt and gravel in with the salt. Salt domes exist underground which are almost pure NaCl with next to NO dirt and gravel, just rock dust in small quantities. Sea salt is evaporated seawater, which concentrates the salt over time as more and more water is flooded over salt flats and the water evaporates and eventually forms crystals. The problem with sea salt is again, what is IN with the NaCL. Bird droppings, dirt and dust which settles from the atmosphere, ash from forest fires and volcanoes, whatever is in the air that can settle out will end up in sea salt. It is unlikely that sea salt will be contaminated with harmful bacteria or anything life that. Salt because if its nature does not promote growing germs and bacteria. Why do you think way back when before refrigeration, salt was used to cure meat as a preservative? Sea salt or rock salt is no more unhealthy than eating any food which has been produced in the outdoors. WHO says this bit about being unhealthy? How about citing a scientifically recognized authority? Regular white table salt usually has added iodine, which is a trace mineral MOST people do not get enough of, hence a public health issue and a reason why iodine is added to table salt. If you eat fish and drink milk or eat yogurt, then iodine should not be a problem. I lije using a salt mill and grind rock salt and sea salt simply because the added minerals cause it to taste different, better in my opinion, than plain white table salt, but I do NOT choose this way for health reasons, but purely for taste reasons.
