I always get seasick. Even on the biggest boat. Can I treat it permanently somehow or will I have to take seasick-pills everytime I hop on a boat?

  1. I've been working on boats for a decade and I still get seasick in the slip.

It's pitiful... nothing works for me.

  2. My wife uses these (http://www.sea-band.co.uk/) and despite doubting they work finds they do!   Healthier than medication.

  3. Some people do get accustomed to motion with time.   While I  acclimate to some degree, I unfortunately always need to stay on something.

One method that will avoid pill popping is the scopolomine patch which lasts about 3 days before needing to be replaced.   Personally, I prefer oral meclazine which I prefer to take twice daily.   The patch gives me cotton mouth and I find it easier to remember to take oral meds daily or twice a day than change the patch every three days.

The other advertised non-medication method is the wrist bands, but personally, I find them worthless.  I've gotten sick wearing them and have seen others do the same.   However, i've read some people feel they are effective, so feel free to give them a try, realizing, you may get sick once with that experiment.

Also, if you are young, realize, many people get less prone to motion sickness as they get older.

  4. Try taking your sea sick pill the night before eat non grease or spicy foods > Crackers> Coca cola>look at the horizon>Try different things>

  5. Whenever he encountered a seasick sailor, Admiral Nelson, the 19th century British hero at Trafalgar, suggested his own fool-proof remedy: "You'll feel better if you sit under a tree."

As of today there are no permanent cures, But you can try some other methods.

Ginger root powder , Acupressure, which puts pressure between the flexor tendons on the wrists, eating saltine crackers and drinking Coca Cola. If nothing else, these are usually handy and can work as a placebo when nothing else is available.
