Question:

Is security at Gatwick Airport still very slow to get through?

I'm having to travel to Gatwick for a fairly early flight but can manage to catch the first train in the morning which will save alot of money! Are there still long queues to get through into the airport or has all that died down now? I'm aiming to get there about 3 hours before the flight takes off but have heard horror stories of people giving it even longer and still missing their flight! Has anyone travelled through recently? Did you have problems?

  1. You should be fine with 3 hours.  They are generally ok.  I travel up from Gatwick failry often, generally mid to late afternoon.  South terminal is 10-15 mins and North is 5-10 mins.  Early morning could be longer but wouldn't imagine its horrendous.

Travelling from Edinburgh early flights was 1hr last year at the hight of problems, but is max 15 mins now, generally less

  2. Yep-we went through a couple of weeks ago and it took about an hour and three quarters-not great!. We had booked into this airport hotel http://www.ramadajarvis.co.uk/hotel/over...

in order to avoid stress-that plan didnt work too well!-hope you have a better experience.

  3. yeh there is still long queues security is really tight and i expect it will be for a long time to come good luck with your flight i think tho you'll be ok getting there 3 hrs before your flight enjoy your break!
