Is self esteem and self worth the same thing?

  1. I'd have to say, yes they are the same thing, but for spin...self esteem is like, a very positive angle. Self worth is more like a neutral term, which would include a wider variety of configurations, including the more negative terms, like self denial which completely describes an ascetic lifestyle.

  3. This is one of those questions which have 2 different sides.

    On one hand, yes they are, as it what you feel you are worth which gives you self esteem. If you feel you are of a low value and of a low worth, your self esteem will be undoubtably low.

    On the other hand, no they are not. Self esteem is how you feel about yourself in terms of appearance, intelligence etc. How you feel about these can then have an influence into your actions and your mood.

    Whereas self worth is how you feel you contribute to society and what you are worth on a whole, could it be money wise, or how much you mean to others around you. Not the same but not dis-similar.
