Is semi sweet decaf iced tea going to be just as fattening as soda?

Steve: it's unsweet tea but I add my own raw sugar and make it semi sweet..is that the same?

  1. Read the label - if it has the same amount of sugar (or more likely high fructose corn syrup) it's just as caloric as soda. Companies love to sucker us by using term like "semi sweet" but they load these drinks up with tons of carbs and other harmful ingredients. Also check the number of servings per container. A 20 oz. bottle is usually listed as 2.5 servings.


  2. Soda is really sweet.  So if it's called "semi-sweet", it's probably not that bad.

    If you drink a lot of tea, try watering it down.  (Pour some in the cup, and add water.)  Because if you drink it fast, it tastes just the same if it's watered down.

  3. I make my own decaf iced tea.  As Steve says, it's the sugar that adds calories.  It doesn't matter what kind whether it's raw sugar, corn syrup, honey or plain old white cane sugar the calories are all the same.

    Sugar has about 46 calories per tablespoon--that's a measured level Tablespoon.
