Is sentence deferral the same as case dismissal? ?

What is sentence deferral and is it the same as case dismissal? If you're case is dismissed does that you mean you had a prosecution, sentence deferred or suspended as an adult?

When a case is dismissed it means it hasn't been sentenced, it left court before it could be judged i.e. you are off the hook.

Sentence defferal on the other hand means that your punishment has been postponed.
