Question:

Is serving too often bad for your tennis game?

Most of the time, I can't find someone to practice with, so I just bring a ton of tennis balls and practice my serve. Is doing this too often bad for me, in any way?

Also, does anyone have any tips for getting my serve (especially the toss) as consistent as possible?

  1. my best advice is to imagine yourself throwing a baseball and then pick up the racket and mimick that motion. Also, go to you tube and watch video instruction on the serve. Lastly, I highly recommend going to watch a tennis match of professionals in your area, sit alongside the baseline and watch the motion, body weight distribution and location of the ball toss of a pofessional tennis player. Good luck

  2. Practicing your serve alot should be great for your game, but if you serve so much that you injure your shoulder or are hurting at the end of your practice you probably are serving a little too much. But if there isn't any problems keep up the practice and you'll have an awesome serve in no time.

For the toss try placing a little circle on the court where you want your toss to land (near your front foot) and practice just tossing the ball so it lands on the circle every time.

  3. Try not to serve so much at one time that you throw out your arm and hurt your muscles.

Just try to memorize your toss and throw the ball up in the same way every time. Strike the ball with the same motion and follow through.

  4. It is great for your game, it makes you consistent and most likely improves your serve.

It is also good for your abs, yet could cause harm to your shoulder and back!
