  1. Yes, I think it's important because it doesn't seem that parents are responsible enough to talk to their own kids about it. Yes, it's a touchy subject and yes, it can be uncomfortable. But by remaining elusive and secretive about it, it makes the subject just that much more mysterious and taboo (kind of like that strange glass canister that sits atop a shelf about which children are told: "now don't you get in there. That's not for you." Yeah, right. Like that's going to work...)

Anyway, frank and open conversations about s*x put young people at ease talking about it. Adult who condescend about it (you should do this, you shouldn't do that) are simply going to turn kids off and perpetuate the "adults know better so you'd better pay attention" mindset. Young people are a lot more astute than that and talking down to them about s*x is NOT the way to open up a dialogue about it.

Not only do we need to address our youth at their level, but we need INFORMED educators teaching this stuff. That person's comment above about his Mom saying that kissing girls can transmit AIDS is a PERFECT example of the blind leading the blind or in this case the ignorant teaching the trusting and impressionable. Regardless of one's religious, social or personal leanings, s*x education must be UNBIASED so that the youth can KNOW what options exist and make up their own minds.

Those who would deny or turn a blind eye to the necessity for GOOD s*x education in schools are only fooling themselves. The argument of "if you teach it, they will want to EXPERIENCE it" is a load of bullpucky. Gone are the innocent days of "going steady" and "courting" and "the art of wooing the fairer s*x." Let's face reality here, people. Would you rather our youth engage in s*x completely oblivious to the potential risks and consequences, or would it make MORE sense to put the responsibility of the risks and consequences directly on them by letting them know exactly what they are?

  2. yes .

you need to know about these things.

    its a part of life.

you cant just pretend s*x doesnt exist.

    its there

and you need to know about it.

because its going to happen one day.

  3. Yes because it helps kids learn the risks of STDs, as well as the effects of impregnating a woman. They also teach a bit of anatomy and physiology... it doesnt hurt to be educated.

  4. its super important. but it usualee does a lowsy job. passing out condoms is not a substitute for gud s*x ed. and parents shud not rely on schools to tell their kids about s*x. they shud keep s*x an open child frirendly conversation always, an answer the kids questions as they come ♥

  5.    It could affirm your faith in education , back when they taught it . In the US now , the teachers feel that the more ignorant you are about s*x , the smarter you will be .

  6. Absolutely

  7. s*x education is more important now than ever before!  High school kids have enough hormones now to have those funny feelings, and there are lots of people who do not want to approach their kids about the BIG TALK.   There needs to be that scientific educational approach to sexuality, otherwise there would be loads of misinformation out there.

For example, 20 years ago my mother was so certain to tell me that if I even kissed a girl that I'd get AIDS because it was a homosexual act.

I know now that's not true.

    :-)

  8. s*x education is school is indeed important.

s*x education at home is even more important!

And in addition to just s*x education, which usually revolves only around the mechanics and the risks of s*x, they should teach kids and teenagers about what a relationship really is! So many teenagers nowadays have s*x only for the sake of it, but if you ask them, they will tell them that they have hardly ever been in love with anyone. And I think that's just sad for them.
