Question:

Is she 'learning' this from me?

Well, the obvious answer would be yes, but.

Anyways, I don't usually eat breakfast, just because I am not a breakfast person. When she is eating breakfast I always sit next to her. But, I am sitting there not eating.. expecting her to eat.

Is she catching on and thinking that not eating breakfast is ok?

Should I change my ways so that she eats breakfast, or is it ok that she doesn't eat breakfast (But, I would like for her to eat)?

She is 13 months.

  1. I am not a breakfast person either but its said to be the most important meal of the day. Maybe you can give her some less obvious foods for breakfast. Its said kids at that young age like to imitate their parents.

  2. I don't know if she's learning it from you.   Babies eat when they're hungry...  Maybe she's just not a breakfast person, too?

I do know that my boys tend to eat more if I eat when they do (mainly because they want to eat off my plate- even though it's the same thing they have on their plate!  Oh well- I guess it helps with portion control for me!).  Try having a bowl of cereal and giving her a few bites of yours... Or eat some fruit and let her have some bites.

  3. Right now, she's going to eat if she's hungry, but I do think that eventually she'll model her behavior after yours.  I quit eating b'fast because I thought it was cool that my mom didn't eat b'fast.

Now, even if I don't feel ready to eat, I will have something light, like some fruit, just so that we're both eating.  And funny enough, I always feel better now that I eat breakfast!  Hmph.  So I guess they're right, breakfast is important or whatever ;)

  4. Cade doesnt eat breakfast really either. He usually will eat about an hour and a half after he eats. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and it gets your metabolism started. I would try to get into the habit of eating in the morning, but I know its hard. She will eventually eat when she is hungry, so I would not worry so much about it. She wont starve herself. Good luck

  5. I used to not be a breakfast person either.

You should change this so she learns that breakfast is important.

Even if you just eat an apple or a little bowl of cereal.  It might be difficult for you to start off, but you'll feel better in the long run!

    Good luck :)

  6. You know, I am not a breakfast person either..unless we go out in the morning..I don't normally eat until around 11-11:30...I had to start having hubby eat with him in the morning..even if they share a banana and bagel..I am happy with that...So if someone else in the house that is a breakfast person will eat with her then try that..if not..then try and have daycare give her a bigger snack or something or pack her something extra for lunch...She will eat if she is hungry though...

  7. the obvious answer is yes, shes learning that from u. i suggest making yourself something small, a piece of toast at least.

breakfast is the most important meal of the day, you BOTH should be eating it!!

babies are like monkeys; monkey see monkey do!!!

  8. If she isn't imitating you now she will be soon.  If you want her to be healthy, I would eat breakfast with her.  Something small would be ok, just to show her that's what people do.  Even if you don't want to though, she should be just fine, they do eat when they're hungry.

  9. More than likely she will still eat mostly because she IS hungry. She went all night with no food. Once she is more like 3 or 4, then she might not want to or something like that.
