Question:

Is showering in a thunderstorm Bad?

We got a bad thunderstorm this morning. I've heard that showering in a thunderstorm is bad, but I took one anyway. Later my mom told me not to shower in a thunderstorm because I'll get electrocuted. I don't think so, however. I know that water is a conducter (who doesn't?), but it seems to me that it doesn't matter because plumbing is underground and the lightning can't reach it there. Does anyone have any thoughts on the matter?

  1. of course its a bad idea, if your house gets struck by lightning, the water gets electrically charged, and if you're in it, bam

  2. House are well insulated so showering is not an issue.

  3. I believe it's only bad if you're showering outside, or a outside door near the bathroom is open or a nearby open window

  4. it does make your risk go up.but you have alot better chance of dying the next time you go for a car ride.my advice is live your life and when it's your time to go god will take you.

  5. It is a bad idea to take a shower during a thunderstorm due to the risk of electric shock. If lightning strikes nearby, the electric current will travel through metal pipes. Water is a conductor of electric current, and that puts people at risk. However, the chances of getting electrocuted are very low. The best advice is to take a shower only if you have to. If you can wait, then do so. It is better to be safe than sorry.
