  1. yeah its ok but it will stink quickly...get some kind of pet bedding it will keep the odor down better.  care fresh is what i used when i raised mice...its pretty good

  2. i have two female fancy mice and i use care fresh pet bedding ultra. That is safe for mice and other small pets. if you are using shredded paper that is not good for them bcause  the paper could have a sharp edge and poke your poors mouses eye, give them paper cuts and it could be very dangerous because they like to chew on anything sometimes and that is not good for their stomaches if they swallowed it.

i use some care fresh bedding and use an old wash cloth as bedding for them. You can use and old wash cloth as bedding because it saves money and you can wash it and use again and again and besides it keeps them warm and safe to bury themselves under.

An old wash cloth could work because it saves money and besides they lool cute when they cuddle in it and it can be washed before going into the wash make sure it does not have poo on it and then you can use it again and again or care fresh that works too

***use an old wash cloth you want to be comfortable not uncomfortable ***

  3. You will definitely want to use Carefresh or Aspen shavings.

NEVER CEDAR, and no to most pine.

Female mouse pee is THE most pungent pee I have EVER smelled. You will be wanting to get rid of them quickly if you use paper.

Toilet paper is a good choice to add TO the Carefresh/Aspen, since they will use it to make a bed.

Newspaper may make a good bottom layer to put the bedding on, but not alone... simply because of the smell.

  4. If there is ink on the paper, yes it is dangerous for them.  They would not eat it, but they would tear more apart from it to make a soft, comfortable nest for them to sleep in.  And when they tear the paper apart they will consume ink and they will get ink posioning.  I hope this helps.

  5. It isn't dangerous, since most inks are non-toxic and soy-based, but it's also not very absorbent and won't control odors.

Aspen shavings are probably the cheapest safe bedding out there, but some of the paper based ones can be pretty inexpensive if you buy in bulk. You can also give them some white unscented toilet paper, but I wouldn't recommend using ONLY toilet paper since it won't do much for odors.

  6. Newspaper is perfectly fine, as long as no colored ads are in it.

Black ink is digestible for mice.

  7. I've used coloured ink and all and have found no harm to the mice, so yes you should be fine.

  8. Not colored ink, just black ink from newspapers or no ink at all!!!

  9. use aspen bedding, place a thin (1/4 inch) level of it in the bottom. This will help soak up any urine and moisture and make it smell nice. Then use shredded non bleached, non inked paper on top for bedding and to leave a soft and non dusty flooring.

  10. Hi,

Don't give your pets paper with ink on it. It can be toxic to them. If you don't want to buy bedding from the pet store you can use shredded paper with NO ink on it and is just regular pieces of paper OR you can use shredded bounty paper towel. But if you don't care about buying it, CareFresh Bedding is the best!

  11. Shredded paper is fine, but you could also add shredded toilet paper too, or fluffy bedding that can be bought from any pet store.

The ink isn't great, so stick to paper without.

Little ink won't harm them, but a lot can damage their little bodies.

    Good luck!!!

  12. I would say so.. According to the people who print the Sunday Mail and Courier Mail, they use non-toxic inks... But who knows?

If you're looking for cheap and effective bedding, use Breeders Choice Cat litter, you can buy it pretty much anywhere.. Woolworths, Coles and alot of Pet Warehouses around Australia. It's safe and clean for your mice.

I have pet Rats and they have used it in their litter boxes since birth, no health issues. (Even for my boys who tend to eat some of it.) ^_^
