So I went snowboarding for the first time last weekend and I took a 2 hour lesson and overall I did well. But not having ever skied, snowboarded, or even skateboarded in my life I was a little nervous and cautious. (I'm 28) I live in VA, it doesn't snow where I live but I can drive 2-3 hrs. to go. But I'm wondering if I buy a skateboard..would that be a good way to practice and learn the balance??

  1. Maybe longboarding but I'm a skater and I went for my first time today and I don't think it helped except for my balance. But when  I got home and tried to skate It was so much different. So if you want you can to develop balance, but other than that it's quite different

  2. Well I dont really skate board much but longboarding is a great way to help and learn snowboarding. If you do not know what it is it's just like skateboarding but with a longer board that gives you the feel of carving down a fresh mountain if powder all you need are some hills by your house and a friend to do it with would be great. The first year that I started longboarding the next winter I showed great improvement. Longboarding is a great way to help with snowboarding. Skateboarding works as well but I would suggest a longboard. a great brand is sector 9 heres the web site. www.sector9.com

    Hope that I helped (:

  3. yes, absolutley. it is great for balance which comes in handy while snowboarding. i skated for quite a few years and when i tried snowboarding i learned to carve the first day. it also helps balance while hit'n the jibs.
