Numbers don't mean much. I would say Canada, Russia and Sweden are better.

not if you look at it like the % of the population that plays it, Hockey in the US is very very very unpopular, and pretty much due to the high cost of it many kids from the US decide to play a more widespread and cheaper games to play, ( i hold nothing against basketball and football i love those sports ) i cant wait for the day in the US for hockey to become a major sport, but it really is too expensive, i am feeling this right now because it simply costs about 1,000$ just to get the gear to start playing, + u add the cost of ice time, traveling, replacing equipment, playing on teams costs money from what i hear from my friends, and also if u pay for lessons that costs money, if it wasnt so dang expensive hockey would be so much more popular sport, its so fun to watch and even funner to play!

They have good players but they don't stand a chance against the likes of Sweden,Russia,Canada,US and Finland.
