Is smithfraudx malware???????

my antivirus said it is malware but i had a fake virus i needed that so is it malware or what Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2009 said it was

Smitfraud is very harmful malware. If Kaspersky is identifying it, you need to fix or quarantine it, whether it is a fake or not.

It could be due to several reasons including:

- the fake virus was a real smitfraud infection

- the fake virus has similar "signatures" that are used in the creation of real malware and Kaspersky detected it

I would recommend not trying to download such "fakes" because in many cases they are the real thing and may even install something else it shouldn't (example, a fake smitfraud could install other types of malware)

You could ask Kaspersky directly and ask them about it.
