  1. some pubs you can smoke some you cant it just up to the owner

  2. yes pubs and cafe,s

  3. There is a No Smoking Law in Spain!!!

But the spanish bar owners lost soooo much business, that there was a 'relaxed' attitude towards it, they could choose wether or not to impose the ban.  You'll find too, that as there is so much outside drinking/eating etc, that it would be pretty hard to impose a total ban on pavement bars with chairs outside.  Most allow it, or have a seperate area for smokers in restaurants.

  4. Right now any pub under 100m square can choose to be smoking or non-smoking. The ones that are bigger have to make a separation. People that go to the non-smoking area should not pass through the smoking area at all, and the smoking are is supposed to be much smaller than the non-smoking. Most of the places though don´t have it accourding to the laws.

Next summer, laws are going to change and it is probably going to be banned in all bars and restaurants.

  5. yes you can smoke in spain

  6. yes you can i was there in aug. the spanish said the ban could be in next year.

  7. I'm pretty sure you can smoke in them. I was in Spain in August and there were people smoking in restaurants, so I assume you can in pubs.

  8. every time i go ,they are always saying coming in soon, and then clean an ashtray for you..great....

  9. Not yet.

  10. There is a smoking ban here in Spain but it differs to the UK. Some bars are allowed and others aren´t. The size of the premises has a lot to do with it. Many restaurants don´t allow smoking but it is difficult to control. Many British tourists feel they have a right to do so even when they shouldn´t.

The law will soon be tightened but even then will be difficult to control. The one big difference here, if the police tell you to do something, you don´t argue back.

  11. you can smoke in certain places, and you will also notice non smokers with them.

  12. You still can smoke in most places but there are more and more places now which prohibit it, it will be clearly marked whether you can smoke or not wherever you go.  Even if you have to go outside for a ciggie, it will still be warmer than having to go outside here to smoke!

  13. i was a foreign exchange student there last year! You can so smoke in pubs.....not even close to being banned...

  14. You think the Spanish would like to get rid of this filthy habit.

  15. They are moving towards a total ban

  16. It all depends on the pubs. If the pubs are bigger than 100m2 then they have to have separate sections for smoking and non-smoking. If the pub is smaller then it depends on the owners discretion, although they do have to put a sign in the window (green circle for smoking permitted)

  17. Smoking in spain is allowed also the surrounding holiday resorts, just back from GC and smoking is allowed, with so many holiday resorts abroad, with most cafes bars and dining areas, outside, or just covered by a temp sheeting as roof, allows smoking to continue, banning smoking while ur on holiday will damage these destinations, in the long term, the non smoking ban relates to closed spaces and public places to name two, we have bus shelters at work, where smoking is permitted, however the bottom windows have been removed, hence allowing the smoke to freely be blown away and not stigment in the air, i am a smoker of 20 per day, and know the bad affects it might have upon me in later life, this is my choice, for some busy body to start preaching where and when i smoke is a infringement of my rights, in my view anyway, when i light up i don't invite a non smoker to sit next to me, this is there choice, for them to then moan that there are getting infected with my smoke beggars belief.

I won't continue with my points as there are many that smokers and non-smokers could argue, with regards smoking, but to ur posting, yes smoking is still allowed thankfully. it would be a dear shame if the ban got inforced where i enjoy my holidays, i'm sure many would agree and many would dis-agree.

  18. Unfortunately, you can pretty much smoke in every pub. The smoking ban here is kind of a joke....

    I do miss England lol

  19. in spain round jan time they were given a choice to be non smoking only or if they have a big enough area they can put a smoking area in, but most places say no smoking but most places have a balcony you can sit eat/drink on so it doesnt really matter (except for in winter :D) i know this coz i lived there whenthat happened, and to people who think the spanish smoke a lot (you´ve gotta be kidding) i lived in spain all my teen years and yes i had friends that smoked but very few, i came to england and it seems like the whole country cant go 5mins without a "fa.g" as you call them.

  20. For small places it is decision of the owner. Large places have to offer a non-smoking section. Openair you can always smoke.

  21. There is a partial ban in some bars, pubs etc. At the moment they have a choice to either ban smoking or not. Most don't want to lose customers so the non smoking places are few and far between. However, I can't wait for a total ban, Spain is lovely except for this disgusting habit inflicted on non smokers by some selfish smokers in bars and restaurants

  22. YES, YOU CAN SMOKE IN BARS IN SPAIN,

it all depends on the size of the bar, look for notices on doors first if you prefer none smoking, most "closed" in restaurants are none smoking, but again look for the signs, the laws here are a lot more liberal than in the UK.

But in medical centers, shops, hospitals, offices -  its all NO smoking.

I beleive its the same on public transport, certainly on trains, but on buses not sure as I never use them, but I think they are also non smoking.

  23. just come back from benalmadena 8th oct ,you can smoke in most bars pubs etc it is up to the individual bar owner whether or not he wants smokers in or not.they have signs up in the bars to say they opt out of the smoking ban.there are some bars however which do not allow you to smoke inside only outside.
