Question:

Is smoking cigarettes or marijuana better for a pregnant woman. ?

I have a friend who is about 2 months pregnant. She is sick all the time, vomiting and what not. I feel so bad for her. The only thing that helps her is marijuana. When she smokes a cigarette she throws up 75% of the time, but when she smokes a little bit of marijuana she is fine.

  1. I hope this is a fake question..good lord..poor baby :(

uh she feels sick all the time bc she is 2 months pregnant for crying out loud. Lots of women feel sick and vomit during their early pregnancy and they get through it without illegal drugs!! What an idiot!!!

Some scientific studies have found that babies born to women who used marijuana during their pregnancy display altered responses to visual stimulation, increased tremors, and a high-pitched cry, which may indicate problems with nervous system development. During preschool and early school years, the children that were exposed to marijuana in utero have been reported to have more behavioral problems and difficulties with sustained attention and memory than nonexposed children.

  2. I'm sure any doctor will tell you that smoking anything during a pregnancy is not advised. But the weight of current scientific evidence suggests that marijuana does not directly harm the human fetus. Marijuana does not kill brain cells. Our bodies produce cannabinoid  receptors which interact with the cannabinoids in marijuana. Thats how you get high. Tell your friend to invest in a vaporizer. That way she will be eliminating the intake of carcinogens and other toxins.

  3. Your friend sholdn't be smoking anything in the first place if she is pregnant. If she feels sick she should go to the doctor.

  4. Your friend is an idiot... she needs to stop smoking... period.

  5. So is she smoking pot to help with the nausea or cause the cigarettes make her puke? She should really quit both. morning sickness sucks, but tons of women deal with it every day. sorry to say, but she needs to just suck it up and deal with it. it won't last forever.

  6. your friend is so selfish, it makes me sick to my stomach.

and you're pathetic to even say you feel bad for her...we all have to deal with morning sickness????

  7. They both bad. She musnt do that S**t while shes pregnant other wise she shouldnt be pregnant in the 1st place. Shes not taking care of the baby now. Why will she when its born?

  8. yea burn the kids brain cells... she can quit both.

the rest of us women put up with morning sickness.

  9. Okay, my BFF smoked both pot and cigarettes while she was pregnant, and her daughter is just fine, has never had a breathing problem, and is a normal toddler who they are thinking about actually skipping Kindergarten because she's had a year of preschool and is really, really bright. They do not test at the hospital for THC. My friend has full custody of both her children. I smoked cigarettes while pregnant, and it ended up being a good thing because I had gestational diabetes and my daughter would of been freaking huge had I not been a smoker, the doctor actually told me so. So in my case, the underweight problem was not a problem.

I'm not saying it's a good thing and that we should all do it, but look back in time, before society thought cigarettes were bad. Everyone smoked, and we're still here. If it was that horrible, the human population would be horribly decreased. As to pot, the Indians used to smoke it all the time, that's how we found it, and their children were just fine, the only reason they aren't as prolific as they should be is because english people killed them all with guns, alcohol and disease. My friend and I have discussed this at length and come to conclusion that if you smoke pot while pregnant, you usually get one of two outcomes. Either the child will be very ADHD growing up, or very mellow and bright. A lot of people want to blame all the birth defects and whatnot on smoking, or drinking, or drugs, when in fact, it's just a spontaneous thing that happens to millions, whether they smoke or not. Everyone just doesn't want to believe it's meant to be, or that it's their bodies fault cause maybe they weren't supposed to reproduce in the first place.

Not starting a war here, just stating what my friends and I have discussed about these issues. We also like to think that if you o****m everytime you have s*x you'll be more likely to conceive, and although theoretically it's not true, we don't tell our hubbies that and everybody is happy :D

    Good luck!

  10. Not smart.  A lot of hospitals do drug tests after the mother has delivered her baby.  If there is THC in her system she will have the baby taken away.

  11. your friend is an idiot

lets kill the babies brain cells in the womb

    that's smart

  12. Your friend is an idiot. She is damaging the fetus's brain development simply because she can't handle a little nausea. If you have half a brain, you would report your friend to Child Protective Services.

  13. I think she should not be smoking either and speaking to her OBGYN about another way to help her with the nausea.

  14. Well - the answer is cigarettes are WORSE. That does not mean marijuana is GOOD.

There are other safe treatments for pregnancy nausea.

  15. wat y would she want to dum down her baby i smoke weed and i would never tell someone to go head and do that take her to rehab

  16. Hello, the body is rejecting the effects of tobacco, and the feeling that she feels fine from the effects of mary jane are false.  Some of us can agree that weed makes you feel good, but, it also effects judgment and loss of temporary memory.

Now lets be open minded and think what will it do to the baby whom surviving on mothers nutrients to sustain life...hmmmm

  17. Dolly's right, she needs to quit. Hospitals do checks on the babies now. If baby comes up positive for weed then she'll get the baby taken away. I've also heard of stories where they just show up at your house a few weeks later (even worse, cuz then she not only has the baby taken away, but she'll go to jail and have a bigger case against her to get the kid back, if they find it in the house). And sadly, I know people who have done what you're friend is trying to do. Let her know what can happen before its too late. There's no scientific evidence that smoking marijuana is harmful or not harmful to the fetus, but its just common sense...As far as morning sickness look it up on the web and there's plenty of ideas for helping it naturally - crackers before getting out of bed, sucking on Ginger Candy (this helped me actually), laying down after your first meal so you can keep it down, list goes on and on. We all have to deal with morning sickness, she needs to grow up.

  18. uhm.....

she needs help.... professional help i mean....

    poor baby...

  19. neither one is good.  but  she could try ginger ale. it helps my wife.

  20. marijuana is better than cigarettes but neither is good for her

  21. they are both bad! Thats selfish! She needs to quit asap.

  22. Cigarettes are almost certainly less harmful, because marijuana could have a serious effect on the development of the fetus's brain. By way of contrast, hundreds of millions of children have been born to mothers who smoked and the sequelae, while real, are known to be fairly minor.
