i just watched it , and i must say its an enjoyable film dispite what critics and people say , and i found myself laughing hard through the movie , were they aiming for a action/thriller/horror/comedy?

Yeah, they were aiming for humor in its ludicrousness. Even the name Snakes on a Plane, screams of comedic intention.
