Hey Oldtimer. I say I'm pretty good because I don't like to brag how good I really am at snooker and pool and I don't give a **** about wasting 5 points because they mean **** all. By the way just because you say its a sport that doesn't mean its true.

  1. They are both professional sports.....the players would hardly get paid the thousands they do just for it being a recreational game

  2. Check your dictionary:

sport      /spɔrt, spoʊrt/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[spawrt, spohrt] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation

    –noun

    1. an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc.

Tell me exactly how pool, by definition, is NOT a sport? I'd like to hear that. Even fishing and hunting are considered sports, and pool certainly requires a lot more skill and physical prowess to play well.

  3. At least the games with regulated international professional competition have been referred to as "sports" or "sporting" events, not simply "games", since 1893 at the latest.[3] Quite a variety of particular games (i.e. sets of rules and equipment) are the subject of present-day competition, including many of those already mentioned, with competition being especially broad in nine-ball, snooker, three-cushion and eight-ball

    Good enough ?

  4. Maybe to you it is I dont know .

How much do you play darts for??

Why are you in the sport section if you dont know what one is??

All in how you look at -Is auto racing a sport ??

Foot ball is a sport but we go to a game ???

I just call it pool--you call it what you like -Come play us for a few hundred a rack you will think of something else to call it

    by daybreak

  5. Any activity you can perform while smoking is not a sport.

  6. There is an effort right now to have pool introduced into the Oympics as a sport. I would imagine you consider tennis or raquetball or even bowling as a sport. You may not be working up a sweat or running around the table when you are playing pool but believe it or no, pool is a very demanding sport physically and mentally. Playing in a tournament that lasts the course of two to four days requires a lot of stamina.

The cerebral capacity of a seasoned amateur or professional pool player is immense when you consider the thought process it takes to exact the position of the cue ball after an individual ball has been pocketed. These players don't just wail at the cue ball and hope it ends up somewhere on the table that will allow them to make the next shot. Their control of the cue ball is precise and takes years of practice to achieve.

Sometimes a player cannot pocket a ball at their turn so it also takes a considerable amount of patience and ingenuity to hit an object ball, yet leave the cue ball in a position on the table that will not allow an opponent to pocket their balls.

Pool, 8-ball, 9-ball, billiards, snooker, one pocket, whatever you want to call it or whatever your game of choice is requires  eye to hand co-ordination, concentration, cunning, and a certain eloquence if you will, that could only be found in a game that is as genuine a sport as football or baseball.

There's just more to playing the sport than knocking balls into a pocket.

  7. in the dreams of the people who love playing it . majority of people don't consider these a sport .

  8. Tennis is considered a sport, why whould table tennis not be considered a sport? Archery is considered a sport, why would darts not be considered a sport? because the playing field is smaller? Same as golf is considered a sport, and pool is kinda like, golf in the stragities, but is played on a much smaller playing field. so does the size of the playing field determine if it is a sport or not? i myself can care less if people think it is or not, but i do definitelly consider it a sport myself. i guess i'd consider anything with mass competition a sport. just my 2 cents worth lol---------- wow u ask if i think poker is a sport, thats tough, there is competition in masses, but so is bingo lol i play way to much online poker, there is alot of stragities, and yes there is luck involved, but in the long run the cream will rise to the top. but no, i do not consider it a sport, as i believe in a sport, you must use both your body and mind, to compete, to be consider a sport. you can argue this to beople til the end of time, but there will with it always be a debate. i do think its a good debatable question though, but my personal thoughts are above:) thanks 4 the question

  9. This is a very subjective question that has been asked several times before. In my opinion ( for what it is worth ) pool is a sport. It requires good hand-eye coordination. It also requires good mechanics and form for a good stroke. There is also a certain amount of endurance involved when it comes to those all night money matches or 4 or 5 day long tournaments. Pool is also a game. When I go to a cub cardinal GAME they are playing baseball which is a SPORT , think about it.
