  1. Aw man its really hard at first, for like the first day. You'll fall alot, you won't be able to stop, you'll be bailing.

Then at the second day once you ge the hang of it you progress ridiculously fast.

Get a beginners lesson to learn how to lace up your boots and bind yourself into the board, and to learn how to stop and shift your weight so you dont fall into the fault lines like i did.

First time i went for a weekend, i was only on the hill for a day and a half, and i was having a blast bombing down the hills.

It gets really fun after you get the hang of it(although my girlfriend beat me down every slope, she had lessons beforehand.)

  2. I just went for the first time yesterday.  Yeah, it's hard, but it was really fun.  I took a beginner's lesson, which really helped a lot.  I had a great instructor who started with the basics, like making sure your laces were tight enough and safety rules.  Just go with a good attitude and don't give up if it seems hard at first.

Also, it helps if you are in shape.  I hadn't worked out in a while, but I tried to workout and do lots of stretching for about 2 weeks before I went, and I'm not that sore today.

I'm a non-athlete and I had never tried anything like it before (not even skiing) but I was able to go down the hill.  I had trouble getting off the lifts, though.  I fell every time, but there was always enough time for me to scoot out of the way.

By the way, I feel like I've lost 10 pounds today.  It's a great workout!  Good luck!

  3. Snowboarding is very hard the first time, however it is easier to progress at than skiing.

Your first time, you will fall. a lot.  wear knee pads and wrist guards.  Wrist guards that are make to be worn over a snowboard glove work best, and you can wear any kneepad that fits under your pants, even it it looks bulky, as long at it fits you, doesn't cut off your circulation, or slides off.

Plan to go a few times, even if you don't think that you are doing well.  It takes most people time to pick it up. Although skiing it easier at first, it takes years to get good at, sometimes even a life time.  With snowboarding, you can get good within a season.

I am a skier, but i snowboard sometimes too.  After my first time snowboarding, i switched back to skis.  last year I snowboarded once, and three times this year, and I snowboarded without falling a lot each of those times. I skied 14 times this year, and it has taken 8 years to get to where I am now. I demoed top of the line skis today, and these are skis that i wouldn't have been able to handle a year or two ago.  It took me about 5 times snowboarding to be able to do a run without falling at all, but i still slow down alot and i dont carve turns, but a few years to get comfortable skiing as fast as I can and to carve turns.

  4. No, it sucks *** actually, but if you stick through it and go a 2nd and 3rd time you'll have a lot of fun.

  5. your butt WILL hurt the next day. but it is all worth it. just take a bunch of pain killers after and you'll be fine =] have fun!!
