TONY, mate please we are trying to educate people here, stop referring to Aussie rules as AFL, it is not. afl is the Australian football league.

It all depends on what you were brought up with, Aussie Rules wins at a canter IMO. but others like league and soccer, each to their own, there is room for all.

Aussie Rules has action. Kick to kick in the midfield without trying to score--soccer--is boring. If offsides was eliminated and teams would try to score, then the game may be interesting. Shots on goal in soccer need to approach ice hockey, 1-0 and 0-0 is boring.

Soccer is the widest played ball sport in the world.... der,,,,,, AFL is a home grown game from Oz.... do the math...............

Nah soccers boring to watch and to play, AFL is so much more entertaining.

AFL at this stage - but only narrowly.

AFL is becoming more like soccer with many of the players diving & staging for free kicks - just like soccer players are renown for.

Also when an AFL team attacks goals nowadays it does so in the manner of a soccer team - chipping backwards & forwards & playing keep-it-off, just like in soccer, until a scoring opportunity arises.

I actually like both sports.  I am a Lions fan in the AFL and a Liverpool fan in soccer.  It really comes down to what you like better.  Soccer is a sport played all over the world but AFL is definitely more popular over here.  Just look at the A-League they don't even get half of the fans AFL games get.
