Is socialization a talent or a developed skill over time? Like, are more people social because they are innately gifted or because they surrounded themselves with a lot of people, and thus are always being moulded? For instance, some kids in high school are more popular than others.

  1. I think it is both, but in your example of high school popular kids I think it is more about an inate savviness and ability to understand social constructions and used them to their advantage. For example, there are probably lots of pretty girls in high school, but what sets the "prettiest" one apart from them might be her understanding of what "prettiness" means as socially constructed by the society in which she lives.

  2. A bit of each, I think. Some people seem to have a knack for interacting with others. Other people need to work on it. It's definitely more difficult for some but not an impossible skill to master.
