Is society's code of ethics is specific enough to identify wrong behaviors?

  1. I think what the problem is, is where are we getting this code of ethics? I don't see this code as ever being perfect. We are too divided.

    A different example - Do you see the enigma that the United States has gotten itself into? It claims to be religiously unbiased - yet most of its laws are based on a form of Christianity.  That makes no sense whatsoever yet we carry on this way and mete out punishments through this contradiction nevertheless.  If there is a separation of church and state - then why is there a law pertaining to marriage? Why does a man only have to have one wife? That's a Christian based concept.

    Hope I got my point through.  I'm tired.


  2. I don't think identifying wrong behavior is the problem. I think we all know what's right and what's wrong. Deciding the punishment is more difficult.  These days the judges are letting rapists and murderers off to continue their crimes.

    That sends a message that wrong behavior is tolerated.
