Question:

Is sociology and geography a good combination to study?

How much overlapping is there between the two subjects?

Is it a good combination, yes or no and why?

If not, what subjects would make for a good combination with geography, or should I simply study geography on its own?

  1. A degree in Social Geography is perfect for you and many colleges do offer such a degree.

  2. Yippee! I was a geography major and also took 15 credits in Soc! Someone who sees the value in geography!!! <applause light goes on>

If you are a physical geographer, or interested in Geographic Info Systems, then likely the soc will not overlap much. If you are a human geographer, like things such as demographics, social-environmental impact analysis, and even doing research on a local economy or urban planning, the soc will help greatly, and as you take higher  level soc classes, you will start to see linkages.

    Good luck, paisan!
