  1. I dont know quite what you mean by "thinking Routines".  But if you mean making up routines to help my toddler smarter, then yes, I do.

~  Every time I change his diaper, we play "name that body part" while he is on the changing table.  I do it then, because I have his full attention, and obviously, I do it several times a day.  i point to one of his body parts (eye, ear, nose, etc....), and he names it.

~  I have pictures of family and friends that he knows hanging all over my house.  Sometimes I walk around with him, and have him point people out and say thier names.

~  I have him do things to help me out around the house.  Like set the table.  I'll hand him a dish, say "plate, bowl" (or whatever) and have him put it on the table.

  2. We use routines with our infant daily.  I think for all young children it is very important.  I think you need to look at your day and decide which parts are diffcult and then create specific rotines for those parts

    nap -- go to room

read the same story / listen to same music

lunch -- go to the bathroom/ wash hands

have child play a roll have her/him bring the spoon or other un breakable items

    pour drink  clean up

I think that you can break up any part of the day.
