  2. 1. That job do you have? What are your major responsibilities?  I am presently a lawyer. My main responsibilities involve representing clients who have been injured or otherwise wronged by others.

    2. Think back to you middle school years:

a: what types or extracurrricular activities were you in?  I'm not certain what "middle school years" are, but since you are probably in high school, I'm thinking you mean the 5th-6th grade. I played on athletic teams, and was involved in Boy Scouts.

b: What were your interests? I was an avid reader; interested in nature topics and science.

c: What career did you consider to graduate on?  At the time, I had no idea. But I knew it would be a job with some prestige.

d: What kind of comm. service did you perform as a teen? As a Boy Scout I did various projects, mostly clean-up kinds of things. As an older teen, not too much public service; I was busy with school, athletics, and my band (I played guitar).

    3. What is a good citizen in your opinion? Someone who is conscious of the responsibility to respect the rights of others; to honestly strive for one's family to be socially engaged, productive, and financially self-reliant; to respect the laws and more broadly, the law; to be informed concerning the political process and make choices and vote based upon mature moral principles. To respect those who have sacrificed in service to their country, state, and community.

    4. How do you think we the citizens reduce young voter apathy and increase participation in voting process?

If your generation realized the incredible financial load you will be required to bear, every one you would get involved in the political process, listening not for the candidate that wants to cradle everyone in their arms like a baby, but those that insist that the government is not the proper body to provide retirement or health care. As we retire and age, my generation is about to roll completely over your generation.

I'm sorry. I've been fighting it my entire adult lifetime, but it is out of my hands.

    5. What are 3 imp. issues facing U.S citizens today?

         1.  The ENORMOUS national debt. Not the deficit, which is of no concern, but the fixed spending for social entitlements such as Medicare. As my generation retires, yours will be squeezed beyond tolerable limits. No one is talking about it because it is so scary to think about and politically expedient to ignore.

         2.  Immigration. I believe the United States is the most vigorous nation in the history of the world, largely because of our diverse heritage. But our heritage is distinctly American, and those who come here to live must do so in an orderly fashion, and must intend to assimilate into our culture. Not give up the heritage of their ancestry, but to become American.

         3.  Race. This is a hopeless situation. The true reconciliators are always drowned out by the self-serving hate mongers, those who create heat when light would be more appropriate. God help us.
