He is 1 years old and we have downstairs bathroom. And he sometimes keep using the bathroom in the sink. We don't use that sink too much but why is he doing that. I change the litter too. Please help me because if it happens again, my dad is making me get rid of him.

  1. Try keeping a little standing water in the sink and change your cat litter. The standing water will prevent him using it like a box, and the reasons that cats won't use a box usually stem from smell. I had to switch to the unscented varieties for my cats. Try it. Its an $8.00 solution to the problem...

  2. More than likely your boy has a urinary infection.  This behavior is quite common in males who are ill.  You should take him to see a vet asap.  And, this would be a good time to schedule an appointment to have him neutered.

Litter box problems are very frustrating for all.....human and feline.  Here's a link that you might find helpful:

  3. Spank him and show him his litter box. Keep the door shut.

  4. that is soooo funny, my 1 year old cat used to use the bath and hover over it as if he was sitting and pee down the drain!!!!!!!! oh my god i thought i was the only one that had a weird but extraordinary cat!! he used to also go outside my house and hover over the drain and pee!!!!! its ok and explain to your parents youl clean up after him and resume the responsobilty of bleaching and cleaning the bathroom everyday and i dont think they should be against it,in all fairness he is using the bathroom, maybe just not the right place!!!!! and tell them it could be worse he could be peeing all over the floors carpets beds even!!!!!!!!! our cats could have been best of friends lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but seriously it cant go on and my cat eventually stopped himself, but as another person wrote do put a little water in the sink and he wont want to go near it!!other than that i suggest everyone close the door after they use the bathroom and kitty will have no choice but to use the litter box,and when he makes a poo even if its outside put it in the kitty litter and let him smell it and eventually he will go there! hope this helps,it did with my little lady!! im 24 and have had cats since i was a child and everyone of them i trained myself. they all eventually went outside themselves and let me know when they had to go by meowing at the door. just tell your dad your training him and it takes a while im sure hel understand. best of luck to you and kitty!!
