  1. Not at all...I'm actually surprised that he had the nerve to ask for more than half a million.

Sure, he's a great player and one of my friends is in love with him, but he's not worth half a million (I'm so sorry to burst his ego there). He takes some big hits and he sure as h**l dishes them out, and when he's in form, he's a good player to watch. He plays more with brute force and can tire easily through that, I think, than ball handling or smarts, and that's all great, but when you're looking at players, you'd want people who can play a solid 80 minutes if you're handing over half a mil. But, if you take a look at who IS getting half a million for a season, he really just doesn't compare at all. Especially with the injury last year.

He has to prove himself first. He has to be up there with the best, and that's not only in terms of on the field, he has to have a good off field reputation and be able to handle himself with dignity around the press and public - be a good role model. You don't see Lockyer flaunting himself around asking for absurd amounts of cash (of course, he doesn't have to: he's earned it). It's not about the money anyway. Sonny Bill should count himself lucky he's been signed to a club at all, cuz there's been heaps of talent that has been walked past before.

  2. If he were an American , he'd be getting millions to play here.

  3. no! he is a great player but he hasnt proved that he is worth half a million. you would be paying him on his potential not what he has proven. in a few years time if he has won the gf for the bulldogs or the tri nations for NZ then we can start talking about half a million. look at lockyer he is getting a half million a year and look at his record
