  1. Yes, definitely. Sourav was undoubtedly the best person for the job of the captain at that point of time, and he led his team really well as a skipper. The aggressive strategy and game, has always characterized the Bengal Tiger, and he made sure that his team reached the finals. Also, he got some very good support from his teammates, particularly Sachin Tendulkar, who was the top scorer of that tournament, and from Javagal Srinath, and Zaheer Khan with the ball. Infact, the performance of all the Indian players has been appreciable in the 2003 World Cup. Sourav dada himself scored 3 centuries in that WC, and he lifted his team to the final by scoring a very good hundred in the semi final match against Kenya, when India was in a difficult position. Incidentally, that was Dada's last ODI ton, and now, it seems unlikely that he will score one again. It was unfortunate that we lost in the finals against Punter's men, but it was a great effort from dada and his side, and it ought to be remembered. Ganguly really showed an unique combination of aggressiveness, leadeship, and sheer determination in the 2003 WC.

  2. Like everything else, it is the captain who gets all the credit when his team wins, even if the captain's performance on that particular day was well below par. Similarly he may put in an excellent show but the team loses, he gets the rap. It comes with the territory. Good captaincy should bring out the best in his players but to scold the juniors may totally ruin their career long before it has even started. The name of the game is confidence and imparting confidence in the team

One has to simply look at the magnificent Imran Khan in the way he got the whole Pak act together and won the World Cup. You comment on Saurav's aggression....T20 is all about aggression and mind games, surely you must agree that these were horribly lacking in the last four matches? Saurav must try and overcome his nervousness and play his very natural game, which is a joy to watch.

  3. he is just a loser ,it was just a good team effort

  4. Cricket is such a funny game that a person with no physical prowess could become a hero overnight and he could find himself much hasted overnight for his debacle in the field.

  5. No, if your talking about the aggressivness that the 2003 team had, then you might want to remember a little bloke named Tendulkar, if i remember right he scored over 600 runs in the tournament and to me that would be where the aggression came from

  6. With out a doubt the Prince of Kolkatta had lead the team to the finals.

  7. Looking the present condition of Kolkata Knight rider, I must say that only Soura's aggressiveness can not take them to the final. Total 11 players need to be well perform. Only then it can be possible.

  8. yes his aggresion and leadership becz of him team india is great

  9. Yes, that was part of it.

  10. no.. it was just sachin's.. he was the top performer..

  11. Don't let him take all the credit.

It was the team that performed

  12. yes

  13. Can you give me a Reason why Saurav Ganguly was KICKED OUT By Greg Chappell. Also as to why , Indian Media went crazy , when this Pathetic Good for Nothing was Kicked Out ?

In my opinion , Saurav Ganguly isn't popular , as much as he is "...notorious.." for obvious reaons . Why are you people so much after saurav Ganguly , Don't you people have a wife at home ?

  14. Team performance.

  18. sourav is the most successful indian captain in respect of leading the team to the greatest wins.

saurav still can lead the team but unfortunately his fate........

saurav has aggressiveness mixed with calculative risk taking capacities which most of the time has won difficult matches for the team.

yes his aggressiveness & cool confidence on the players, players themselves & his overall leadership capabilities made the indian team reach the WC 2003 Final.
