  1. No.  The Sub-Saharan region is mostly arid tropical country with little vegetation whereas South Africa is largely in a temperate zone with more rain and vegetation.


  2. South Africa is a country (where I was born) and the Southern most country in Africa.

    sub-Saharan Africa is the area of Africa South of the Saharan desert.

    The connotations of the many countries that form sub-Saharan Africa are usually negative due to the politics practiced in the region, the numerous wars and the continuous struggles for natural resources and food.

    South Africa (the country) would therefore be part of sub-Saharan African but not all of it. Many countries make up sub-Saharan Africa!

    The expression "Southern Africa" is mostly used as a term to explain the geographical location of one's country being in the South of Africa.

  3. Well yeah, Sub-Saharan Africa is just below the Sahara desert and the Sahel. And South Africa is below the Sahara and Sahel.
