I've been curious about the taste, I've only drunk regular milk (usually 2%) my whole life.

  1. First of all, if you grew up drinking it, and eating tofu, and eating soy beans, and lots of different interesting foods... it will likely taste good.

But, if you grew up eating lots of junk food, salt, sugar, and basiclally all those fake foods that people eat in N. America, it will likely not taste so good... because it looks like milk, has the texture of milk, cool like milk, comes in the same kind of packaging as milk, then when you try it, your brain is expecting something like milk... but... nope... nothing like milk.  It's bean water.  I enjoy plain (no sugar, nothing), especially warmed up on a cold winter night.  But, I'll tell you, at first, I thought it tasted pretty weird.. but I knew many others at school that grew up drinking it and thought it was good... so, I thought that I'd just keep drinking and I'd get used to it.  I did.  And it tasted good.  Those flavoured soy drinks are very popular for this reason... they load up with sugar, salt, chocolate or vanilla, etc. to make it taste more like flavoured milk...

When I was in Japan for a year, I found out that the local tofu shop also has fresh soy milk for sale... still warm... I tried it... wow... it was thick and creamy and smelled like eggs I thought... it was too strong for me... and I added some water to it.  I'd do this on my way home from a hot summer bicycle ride in the mountains.  After a few times I was drinking it straight without diluting it, and man, it really tasted good... and it was a real thirst quencher on a hot day...

  2. its ok to drink or cook with. I like the choc flavored the best.. The reg flavor doesn't taste good in cereal and if your use to 2% it will take awhile to adjust. They also make rice, hazelnut, oat milk so you could give these a try if you do not like soy milk.

  3. It has a very interesting taste. i dont think it tastes like milk at all, but some people actually enjoy it like my brother. if i were you i would try it just because it is very healthy for you.

  4. oh my god! soy milk  is sooo delicious. :)

personally, i think the best brand to buy is Silk.

and the vanilla kind is really tasty.

    aloong with the chocolate.

also if you like chai tea lattes, they taste better with soy milk

and cereals taste a whole lot better too.

    you should try it.

  5. h**l yeah its good, although I only eat it in my cereal, it hits the spot for me!

  6. yes soy milk is really good and its more sweeter than milk =]

  7. I will agree with Scocasso, as in the taste is certainly very different from fresh milk, I found the taste to be more like diluted condensed milk.  Although the flavoured ones don't really taste any difference from milk shakes made with regular milk.

If you are going to change over to soy milk, try different brands, some are more pleasant than others, and it does taste lovely on cereals!

Your taste buds do get used to the taste after a while! :)

  8. yes its wonderful, rice milk is also good. vanilla soy milk is the best for its thick and creamy, like a milkshake in a way

  9. YES Especially Vanilla.......Blessings Yahoo

  10. Definitely not when you are allergic to it.

  11. Soy milk is good, but deficient of an enzyme that is crucial for

    growth development.

  12. i love soy milk... i hate cows milk. when i first started using soy milk in my cerial and stuff i didnt like it but now i think its better than cows milkd and i think it has more flavor and its sweeter

  13. I really enjoy the flavor, but it is definitely different.  To me, it tastes thicker, like whole milk, but it also has a soy flavor combined with the thickness.  Get a small carton and try it out.  If you don't like it, you'll only be out a small sum of money.

    Good luck!

  14. I love it! Especially vanilla it tastes like milkshakes, just thinner

  15. Get the vanilla soy milk it's better then cows milk.

  16. The flavor of Soy Milk varies with the brand.

Silk is the most accessible soy milk flavorwise for most people. Others prefer Eden Soy Extra which takes into account the added nutrients missing in other brands.

    Westsoy is alright too.

However, Soy Milk is not your only available choice for non-dairy milks.

There is Almond Milk, Rice Milk and my personal favorite Hemp Bliss Hemp Milk which has Omega 3-6-9 and an amazing protein profile.

  17. Yea, it's pretty ok. My dad drinks it, and we always have it at home. I think its a unique flavor. But it depends on ur taste/opinion.

  18. I personally HATE it! But i know many people who are like addicted to it! Soi basically depends n the person! But just to let you know  many people hate it at the beginnign but because they wanrt to like it they slowly mix a little bit in regular milk. And each day they add more and more so that they get familiar with the taste.

Also, if youm drink a lot of milk you might want to switch to 1% or even skim milk because even though many people don not realize it milk has A LOT of fat. On average one cup of 2% milk has about 16% of your daily intake of fat. That adds up if you drink a lot of milk.

  19. It's alright if it's chocolate or vanilla flavoured.

  20. Mix it half-half till you get used to it.

Cut it back a little more each time

You'll never know the difference in

    the end.
