  1. Yes it's safe and delicious. Carrageenan (yeah that's spelled right) is really just seaweed extract although there is some concern over it's possibility of causing cancer. Fortunately some brands don't contain it. I drink the brand VitaSoy who uses barley flower in place of carrageenan, so if you are worried try a brand like it.

I would be in trouble if not, I'm a vegetarian who is in the process of going vegan, I've cut dairy and eggs so far so soy milk has become a staple food for me.

  2. Alright this doesn't have to do with your question (sorry) but I had to say it. There is no such thing as soy milk! When was the last time you saw udders on a soy plant to feed its babies? It should be called soy juice but they can't call it that because everytime you say soy juice you throw up a little in your mouth. Sorry for not answering your question but it had to be said.

  3. yes soy milk is safe to drink. I've been drinking it for years. The concerns about carrageenan are only really a problem if you are allergic to it and the other concerns are usually about making soy milk yourself. The thing about cancer is a sack of ****. The cancer excuse is used for every product that is kicking in on the mainstream market.

Due to the changes to soy milk over the years which are making it a more viable option than cows milk (my soy milk has more calcium in it than the calcium enriched cows milk I used to buy) it is becoming more popular and acceptable. The dairy industry doesn't like this for obvious reasons. It's only natural that they'd want to defend their portion of the consumer market.

If it's really a concern for you, you should know not all soy milks use carrageenan. Vitasoy doesn't for example. It may also be worth noting that there are a lot of products on the market (not all of them food products) that has carrageenan in them; it's not only limited to soy milk.

  4. Of course. You might vomit from the horrid taste, but if you are already used to it, you'll be fine.

  5. Definitely!

  6. yes it's safe many people who are lactose intolerant drink it and other who are vegan also drink it for vitamins.

  7. yes its safe and i think it tastes very good, even better than regular milk :p

    haha :]

  8. Yeah, it's fine. Now a days it seems like a lot of things contain carrageenan. Soy milk has a trivial amount, so you will be fine. I drink soy milk everyday and I'm perfectly healthy.

  9. It is good for u but it taste horrrrrrrrrrrible

  10. Carregeenan is not very harmful to your body especially in the amounts found in such products as soy milk.  It is a commercially used smoothing agent found in the cell walls of red algae.  As for soy milk, it is not harmful in moderate amounts, but too much can be harmful because the estrogen like compounds in soy.  Also, soy milk is a processed food product, it is not organic.

  11. soy milk is very safe to drink actually

    i prefer sweetened thought

  12. soy milk is deffinately safe to drink    but ive heard that it has some kind of womens hormone in it

  13. Yes it is totally safe and healthy, plus it tastes really good.  I prefer it over regular milk!!!!! :)

  14. Contrary to what many people believe, (unfermented) soy products are not necessarily healthy and may actually be harmful.  Many people use soy products to supplement the absence of protein in their diet; however, soy often has a contrary effect.  Unfermented soy contains various enzymes which block protein digestion.  Thus, rather than adding protein to your diet, you are blocking the digestion of protein.

Soy is also high in phytic acid which blocks other minerals such as zinc, calcium, and iron.

As already noted, soy is not a very natural food.  Most soy is genetically modified and is often highly contaminated by pesticides.

In short, soy is probably more harmful than helpful in your diet.

  15. yea all that is is seaweed and that good for you i think

  16. yes, its fine. it's not as good or refreshing as 2% milk, but it's healthier for you.  That's why it's in the health food section :)
