  1. Spiderwire mono is cheap stretchy garbage. I think the best in my opinion is fireline braided and trilene for mono's.

  2. Braided is tough stuff. Spiderwire is a good brand. I tried Fireline once and all it did was mess up my reel. Go for it, it's what I have on right now, and it has pulled in nice sized northern pike without breaking. The only problem is snags, because the line won't break as easily, so you either bring up the snag or cut the line.

  3. Spider-wire is pretty good if you are an experienced fisher fishing for the right fish. The problems are that it tangles very easily so you wouldn't want to use it on a bait-caster if not experienced, it is easily cut by fish with sharp teeth or obstructions such as rocks underwater, and you have to replace it more often that others or it becomes worthless. The advantages are that you can "feel" the fish better and it wont stretch or break from pull strength alone as easily. My experience is that it's ok for Redfish or Bass, but not for trout or offshore fish. Mainly though, the time lost untangling spider-wire isn't worth the benefits of having other line in the water. If you are only using ten pound test line, then anything out there will be ok. I would go medium price for fishing line and use the savings on better reels and rods. The best thing to do for fishing line is make sure you replace it every few trips or so.

  4. I tried Spiderwire braid once and didn't like it one bit. I prefer Power Pro when I'm fishing with braid. My mono of choice is Berkley Trilene. I use XT and XL, it depends on the situation. I have not tried Spiderwire mono and with my experience with the braid, I never will. Try Trilene and see how you like it.

  5. This in truth all comes down to what each angler likes, ive tried spider wire on a few occasions and although its not too bad i felt that it lacked the quality it should have had for the price, power pro is a good option, especially if you fish saltwater, but i also like stren microfuse braided lines along with berkley fireline, try and give each one a go if you know someone who fishes with each one have a try of them and see which one works best for you.
