Question:

Is spin on a (tennis) ball machine necessary?

I am interested in purchasing a ball machine for myself. I will use it to hit against as well as teach with it. I am interested in the tennis tutor plus model with the remote and 2-line function. If anyone has this machine please leave your thoughts on it. If there is another brand of machine that has these features and is reliable I'd love to hear about it. I am looking to spend $1500 or less on a machine.

Thanks for the help!!

  1. YES!

it's really boring if you it just feeds you the ball at high or low speed, low or high (height). I like a little spin on the ball to give myself a challenge. Plus, it will helps you prepare to return those pesky players :D who will do spin serve (kick serve) on you. Or another will always spin the ball at you because he knew you cannot hit a spin ball.

  2. Having a spin option on a ball machine is great because you will learn how to enticipate where to hit the ball with different spin.  For $1500 or less, you can get a great ball machine with spin.  I would suggest you look for a model that has random spin and oscillation.  I always like the Sports Tutor or Lobster.  Check out this site -> http://tennis-ball-machine.com/  Lots of ball machines to choose from.  Good luck :)
