I’m participating in a fun run and I need sponsors to donate money. Am I supposed to accept money upfront or later? The deadline for handing in all sponsorship money is in the summer holidays and unless I go around everyone’s houses I won’t be ale to get it in on time.

  1. Sponsoring an event precedes and supports the event. Any donations will be prior to the event. Only prizes and awards follow one.

  2. Most people that sponsor you will give you the money before hand because they don't want to find out that they pledged $5 a mile and you walked 20, when they'd only planned to give you $20. They also don't want to be bothered a second time.

This is actually why "sponsor" events are a waste of time. Just ask for the money and skip the activity. People give because you ask and/or they value your cause, NOT because you're going to shave your head, kiss a pig or walk for hours.
