  1. neap tides are smaller.

    Though they aren't the same as low and high tides.


  2. No;neap tides are low tides.They occur when the sun and the moon are separated by 90 degrees(first quarter or third quarter phase of the moon) when viewed from the earth and in this condition,the forces due to the sun is partially cancelled by that of the moon.

    Spring tides are high tides and they occur  when the sun,the earth and the moon  form a line and the force due to sun is reinforced by that of the moon.These occur on full moon days and new moon days.

    But spring and neap tides are slightly different from the high and low tides occuring every day.
